A gallon of gasoline in the United States now costs $4.30 on average, compared to $2.98 when the war began, according to AAA.

And search says:

As of September 9, 2026, the average price of regular gasoline in California is approximately $5.88 per gallon.

My recollection is that surveys said the rail plan in Solano County would be viable when gas hit $5/gallon.
